Customized Environment Maximizes Independence and Enjoyment
The Haven offers a safe, homelike environment purpose-built for the unique needs of individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other memory conditions. Everything from the color of our walls and carpets to the configuration of “neighborhoods” and hallways is specially-designed to help adults with memory loss achieve maximum independence and personal fulfillment. In The Haven’s distinctive neighborhood square design, residents enjoy a unique 1940s and 50s style Main Street life skills area. With interactive activity areas such as a beauty parlor and ice cream shop, Main Street recreates a sense of the community and routines familiar to our residents.
Residents at The Haven live in one of three neighborhoods, each specifically programmed and staffed to address the care needs of those with beginning, middle, or advanced stages of memory impairment. Neighborhoods are designed for social and recreational activities with a living room, dining room, activity room and indoor walking areas. Each neighborhood also has a landscaped courtyard with a walking path, raised planting beds, and a screened porch.
Each apartment is a well-planned, customized environment. Visual cues such as two-toned toilets give added confidence to residents whose depth perception may have diminished. In addition, The Haven features bathing spas with specially-designed showers and whirlpool tubs.
Family and visitors appreciate The Haven’s Public House – a comfortable visiting area and game room, where grandchildren can enjoy playing air hockey with Grandpa or having ice cream with Nonna.
Residents enjoy nutritional, tasty meals three times daily. All meals are served family-style, to maintain independence and choice. We don't just provide a plate of food; we give options at each meal, so residents can choose the foods they want.
